Look down from the vintage bridge for a hydrological feast! Panther Creek Falls seems to fall in a giant hole, then under the bridge yet is completely visible and quite close.
Highway Directions
From Banff or Golden begin at Trans-Canada Highway 1 & Highway 93 Icefields Parkway, from the interchange head northwest on HWY-93 Icefields Pkwy/Promenade des Glaciers 107.8km (67mi), the Big Bend hill rises about 700 meters then crosses a bridge with Lower Nigel Creek Falls on the right, very soon after that there is a tiny pullout & tinier road on the left (south). This tiny/short/ROUGH gravel road/parking lot is the beginning of the trail of wonders. No RV's here, closest safe parking is the next pullout about 500 meters ahead on the WRONG side or the 2 pullouts UP the Big Bend hill. From the Jasper begin at Icefields Parkway Highway 93 & Yellowhead Highway 16, drive south for 118.4km (73.6mi) through Jasper National Park and into Banff National Park, at bottom of Big Bend Hill there is a pullout on a LONG left corner which is NOT the pullout (but closest safe RV parking), continue a little further to a tiny pullout & tinier road on the right (south). This tiny/short/ROUGH gravel road/parking lot is the beginning of the trail of wonders.
Local Directions
Walk southwest from this tiny road to the bridge from approx 1920, Panther Creek Falls if below the bridge to your left (west) and must be seen from the bridge. There is enough room to stand/walk on the bridge but PLEASE don't stop in the middle of the road, this is not a good place to be parked in the roadway even for a monent.
Photographing Nigel Creek Falls
For a change this falls is well protected from sunlight, most any time except maybe 3-6PM where the sun might get it. If it does it might make some GREAT shadows of the bridge across the falls.
